Batik Art Workshop, 22 April 2019 | aNERD Gallery x VAC

Taking place on 22 April 2019, from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at Visual Arts Centre Gallery, receive professional guidance from our friendly instructor, Tony from aNERD Gallery! Suitable for anyone who is interested – with or without experience in Batik art! Receive tips and guidance to learn about this more than 1,000 year old art form. Take this opportunity to learn about this traditional art form! Bring home your masterpiece and adorn it in your house! Spend a lovely evening learning about Batik Art so that you can upcycle your old clothing into fashionable batik pieces!

– Brief Introduction to Batik and its rich history

– Designing your own batik motif or pattern

– Trying out the whole batik process – wax application, dip dyeing and wax removal.

– Demonstration on how to use the tools of the trade

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Batik involves the use of hot wax. Participants should be aged 12 and above.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

If you are coming to our centre via MRT,

Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station (NS24/NE6/CC1)
Exit A & B (15 metres walk)
From Exit A: Take the escalator up to street level and take right (park side) Continue on the path, turn right to see Visual Arts Centre (10 metres)

If you prefer coming by bus,
