In her latest exhibition, Singaporean artist Amanda Heng explores history, memory, communication and human relationships in urban spaces. Using treasured objects as starting points, Heng collaborates with participants through a series of interviews – or “mini performances”, to produce intensely personal works brimming with memories and elements of imaginative construction.
Heng combines her collaborative, interdisciplinary approach with the techniques of print and papermaking, applying a process-driven practice to her residency at STPI. Uncovering the layers and depths of stories, from intimate family bonds to personal heritage and memories of old, they highlight the power of storytelling and the processes of art making.
