Women in Film & Photography 2021: Inheritance

Ennuh Tiu: All that's left, all in red

The sixth edition of Women in Film & Photography will open at Objectifs on 11 November, featuring works by women and non-binary artists from Southeast Asia, East Asia and South Asia, examining this year’s theme of Inheritance through photography and film.

After an experimental residency last year with eight Singapore-based women artists, programmes open to the public return this year with two exhibitions and two short film programmes. Exploring notions of inherited identities and traditions, familial connections and stories, intergenerational memories and scars, and public and private histories, Inheritance seeks to understand who we are.

The participating artists take on this theme from diverse perspectives, with themes covered ranging from notions of inherited and invented histories, to rituals around menstruation and around domestic work, and spanning narrative, documentary, hybrid, and experimental forms.

The line-up includes an ongoing exhibition at the Middle Road centre as well as screenings of short films at The Projector on Dec 4.

Venue: Chapel & Lower Galleries, Objectifs, 155 Middle Road;
The Projector, 05-00 Golden Mile Tower, 6001 Beach Road

Admission: Exhibitions are free; $15 for screenings

When: 11 Nov - 19 Dec 2021,
