Renowned for his futuristic yet mesmerising digital landscape paintings, artist Yang Yongliang explores possible urban utopias through the lens of contemporary Shanshui.
In embedding sprawling megacities within quietly idyllic mountains and rivers, Yang Yongliang orchestrates a teeming harmony of nature, modernity, culture and tradition.
Yet beneath the grand high-rise spectacle lie subtle hints of cold dissonance and urban loneliness, as industrial liveliness slowly takes on a rhythm of monotony.
Presented in ArtScience Museum’s lobby LED screen against the wider backdrop of the stunning Marina Bay skyline, A Quiet City and Glows in the Arctic open a digital portal to speculative futures – inviting contemplation on how cities can shape, integrate or transform with our immediate environment.
A Quiet City plays at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm daily.
