Red Baron and Planet Shanti commemorate the life and work of Malaysian advertising and film legend Yasmin Ahmad, who sought to bring together people of every identity, ethnicity and persuasion.
On 8 November, we will screen Sepet (2004), a Malaysian romantic comedy drama film set in Ipoh, Malaysia. It tells a tale of a love that blooms between a Chinese boy and a Malay girl. Major recognitions for the film are at 18th Tokyo International Film Festival 2005, 27th Créteil International Women’s Film Festival in France. Yasmin’s sister Datin Orked will be in attendance and will participate in the talkback session after the movie.
Red Baron will be hosting a pasar malam so you can grab a bite prior to the screening.
This is a FREE event. 20% of all food and beverage will go to the operating funds for the Yasmin at Kong Heng initiative. Yasmin Ahmad Society’s merchandise will also available.
