All that is Changing is an exhibition of artworks by INSTINC artist-in-residence Jo Darvall from Fremantle, Western Australia, and in collaboration with INSTINC’s founder and contemporary abstract artist Yeo Shih Yun, and artist/musician Andy Yang from Singapore.
The three artists will collaborate to create a site-specific installation featuring large scale 2D work, a soundscape and video projection, which will be exhibited at the Australian High Commission in Singapore in March. Large ephemeral watercolours on rice paper will drape from the fourth floor of the atrium, and some 2D works will also be shown – including one stretching 4.8 metres, resembling a Chinese scroll.
The international collaboration is an homage to two artists – Australian Kathleen O’Connor and Chinese-born Singaporean Georgette Chen – who bucked expectations to work as artists in the early part of the 20th century and arenow considered significant artists in their countries of origin. This exhibition seeks to illuminate the histories and contributions of these two artists. New works by Darvall and Yeo will reference the kind of mark making and use of pigment observed in the work of both O’Connor and Chen.
