The Affordable Art Fair returns from 16 – 18 November 2018. Over 80 local, Asian and International galleries will exhibit quality contemporary art across various styles and mediums, from hundreds of dollars up to $15,000. To be held at the F1 Pit Building, there will be new features, installations and programmes to educate and inspire you to fall in love with art, within your budget.
The Young Talent Programme (YTP) is a significant platform for young artists, below the age of 35 who are born/reside in Southeast Asia, to be spotted by galleries and art institutions, and to be introduced to the art-loving public. The objective is to identify young talents early, providing guidance, and commentary on their artistic development. The programme creates an opportunity for emerging artists to build a strong CV and experience in the art market, whilst providing a focal point for contemporary art dealers and collectors to access fresh works from the region.
Eight talented young artists were selected to exhibit their work at Affordable Art Fair this November. Of these, up to three artists will win the coveted chance to have a solo exhibition in August/September 2019 at ION Art gallery. The winning artists will work with the programme curator, allowing them 10-months to develop their practice.
Party goers at the Arty-Licious Evening on Friday 16 November, Affordable Art Fair’s highly anticipated night of fun, glamour, and charity, will be able to take part in the colour-by-sections mural wall installation, illustrating a 200-year timeline of Singapore’s history, and featuring the iconic Singapore skyline and Merlion in black and white, created by artist Diana Francis. Visitors will be invited to collaboratively decorate the wall as a symbolic gesture that ‘adding colour’ improves lives. In addition, mini Merlion sculptures are available with a donation of $20, to take part in the art workshops led by the artist, with a portion of the proceeds going to the supported charities of President’s Challenge.
The Arty-Licious Evening will also include a live painting demonstration and talk inspired by Greg Mallyon’s (Manyung Gallery) travel through Southeast Asia, an artist whose work explores the themes of aerial and topographical landscapes. Talks by an art therapist will also be hosted for those interested in learning more about the benefits of art therapy.
The Affordable Art Fair aims to make art accessible to everyone; educating and immersing visitors in our range of innovative educational features and inspiring people no matter their age. The little ones can harness their inner creativity whilst their parents enjoy exploring the fair, at the Children’s Art Studio by Art Wonderland.
