Art Trek 13

News

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of PH-SG relations, the Philippine Embassy will again be holding its annual Art Trek from 24 August 2019 until 30 September 2019.

This year, Yavuz Gallery (9 Lock Rd, #02-23, Singapore 108937) will open Art Trek 13 with a back-to-back exhibition on 24 August 2019 with “Seabound” featuring Filipino artists who collectively call themselves as ‘The Working Animals Art Projects,’ and a solo exhibition entitled “Dahlia” featuring Keb Cerda.

Miaja Design Group (9 Muthuraman Chetty Rd, APS Building, Singapore 238931) will then present a joint exhibition entitled “Archipelago” from Messrs. Larry Calderon, Alain Hablo, Gus Albor, and Ross Capili on 04 September 2019.

On 14 September 2019, Di Legno Gallery (21 Arab St, Singapore 199844) will open the exhibition “Crossing Borders” featuring Jayson Tejada.

Momentous Art will then stage a pop-up exhibit at Tanglin Mall (#03-09, 163 Tanglin Road, Singapore 247933) starting 17 September 2019 with “Beauty & Youth (B-Side)” featuring Marilou Solano, Janos Delacruz, Beejay Esber, Stephen Taneo, Raul Jorolan, Pete Jimenez and Jan Calleja.

Utterly Art (20B Mosque Street, Singapore 059500) will open a joint exhibition on 19 September 2019 entitled “Rewind” featuring Mariano Ching, Kiko Escora, Fernan Escora, Jeho Bitancor, Ronald Caringal, Melvin Culaba, Rendy Dela Cruz, Norman Dreo, Juan Alcazaren, Randy Solon, Pedro Garcia, Kris Soguilon, Jonathan Joven, and Kat Casapao.

For the first time, the Photographic Society of Singapore (Selegie Arts Centre, 30 Selegie Road, Singapore 188351) will host the exhibit “The World through the Eyes of a Filipino Lensman – Jun Pagalilauan” starting 23 September 2019.

Lastly, Art Dialogo will stage an exhibit at Temenggong 18/20 (18 & 20 Temenggong Rd Singapore 098771 on 26 September 2019.

To make this year’s Art Trek extra special in observance of the golden anniversary of PH-SG relations, a photo artist, Singapore-based architect Mr. Pagalilauan, will participate for the first time, while a cross-cultural workshop will be conducted by Art Dialogo at Temenggong involving Filipino and Singaporean students.

“I am excited to hold Art Trek 13 as we continue to innovate the traditional format of featuring only painters. We added sculptors and toy artists during last year’s roster. Now, we have a photo artist and a cultural outreach to serve as a testament to the rich artistry of Filipinos,” Ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap said.

Through the years, Art Trek has become the centrepiece of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore’s cultural diplomacy program. It serves as a platform where Filipino artists and Singapore galleries collaborate to further promote Philippine art in the island-state which has become one of the leading art capitals in the world.
