Art Trek: Showcase of PH Art in Singapore Now On Its 12th Year

News

Art Trek 12 will feature 24 Filipino artists and 9 Singapore galleries. The exhibitions start on 25 September and last until the end of October.

Apart from the many participating painters, this year’s Art Trek will also feature sculptors and a toy artist – a reflection of the diversity and eclectic styles of contemporary Filipino artists.

Since its inception in 2007, Art Trek has showcased the masterpieces of more than 200 Filipino artists in Singapore, which signify the depth of the cultural and artistic links between the two countries.

Art Trek has therefore created a niche in Singapore’s dynamic cultural scene making it the centerpiece of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy program.

“I look forward to the support of our Singaporean and Filipino friends, as well as from the various art connoisseurs in Singapore, as we stage this year’s Art Trek. Singapore has indeed become among the art capitals of the world and we are honoured that this time 24 Filipino artists will be showcasing their talent,”

Philippine Ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap said.

The opening salvo of Art Trek 12 will be the joint exhibition of Abigail Dionisio and Joel Welbart Bartolome at One East Asia Gallery (15 Scotts Road #09-03 Thong Teck Building 228218) on 25 September 2018 entitled, “Travel Light”. This will run until 14 October 2018.

Di Legno Gallery (188 Tanjong Katong Rd 436989) will stage an exhibition on 19 October – 30 November 2018 entitled “Bahala Na” (Whatever happens happens) featuring Nasser Lubay and WIPO.

Jonathan Joven will be the featured artist of Utterly Art Gallery (20B Mosque St. Level 2 059500) in an exhibition entitled “Same Ground” on 19 October – 30 November 2018.
