The exhibition includes artworks inspired by “data” collected from 100 computer generated GPS coordinates throughout the territory. Over a period of the past 2 years, the artist, ⽩提⼭ has invited volunteers from all walks of life to join her in exploring these randomly selected GPS coordinates, participating in the process of sampling and data analysis. By joining, these individual “guest-artists” contributed by lending their respective perspectives to a given site and the overall project. By displaying the resulting artworks and perspectives, gallery and artists are intending to merely add a random gem to the colourful mosaic our Little Red Dot actually turns out to be (or is) at closer look – thus celebrating the unique characteristics that make Singapore special.
This exhibition is showcasing the surprising results of the ongoing project. You can find the jointly processed output from artist volunteers Helene Le Chatelier, Esther Ng, Jane Bi, Kristen Hobby, Albrecht Gumlich, Christoph Wichert, Chan Wan Kyn, Peter Meier, Sean Yeo and Vyndicate. In a world that can often feel homogenized, “你是特别的 – You are special!” reminds us to appreciate the diversity and beauty of the world around us.
