
artcommune’s upcoming talk on 8th December, Saturday will focus on important local artists who paint in the representational art style i.e. artworks which depict elements of reality in a recognisable fashion. This talk aims to look at the historical development of figurative canvas art in Singapore, starting from the social realism movement and the Nanyang style, before moving on to identify the key characteristics and techniques of noted 2nd-generation artists in this genre.
The talk will be looking at artists like Ang Ah Tee, Chua Mia Tee, Siew Hock Meng, Tan Choh Tee and Tong Chin Sye to name a few.
