In celebration of its 10th Year Anniversary, 33 Auction is proud to present an exclusive selection of works in the 2019 Asian Modern and Contemporary Art Auction. The auction will commence on 28th July 2019 at 1:30pm, at Hilton Singapore, Grand Ballroom, Level 3. The preview will be hosted at The Luxe Art Museum between 26th to 27th July 2019 from 10am to 8pm.
This 10th Anniversary Sale revere the astounding artistry of Nanyang pioneer artist, Chen Wen Hsi, with a selected range of works celebrating the late artist’s unparalleled visual forms. Other notable works by Singaporean artists include Choo Keng Kwang, Tay Bak Koi, Tan Swie Hian and Sun Yee. The auction also features a specially curated show, Abstract Art in Singapore: Advent of the New Era, tracing the dawn of abstract art movement during the Nation Building era of Singapore. This segment highlights an array of works by Wee Beng Chong, Arthur Yap, Ho Ho Ying, and more.
Another highlight of this auction are works by Indonesian masters such as Affandi, Hendra Gunawan, Srihadi Soedarsono, Gusti Agung Mangu Putra, and many others. This auction gathers a stimulating survey of the artists’ Balinese illustrations. Celebrating the works of influential European artists in Southeast Asia, we are delighted to present rare paintings by Rudolf Bonnet and Romualdo Locatelli that ruminates on both artists’ Italian ties. Other works featured in this segment include paintings by Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres, Arie Smit, and Antonio Blanco.
In addition to featuring the best of Singapore and Southeast Asian art, 33 Auction presents a fine selection of works by venerable Chinese artists like Zeng Fanzhi, Yin Zhaoyang, Mao Xuhui and Ling Jian; as well as, Vietnamese masters Vu Cao Dam and Le Pho, Myanmar-based U Lun Gywe and U Min Kyi, and Malaysian pioneer artist Awang Damit Ahmad. The works of these artists represent the finest assimilation of Eastern and Western artistic principles observed in the nineteenth century.
