“The Art of Li Fuyuan – Online Auction (OS017)” is now open for bidding until Sunday, 22 December 2019, 5pm SGT (UTC+8). This online-only auction highlights the exuberant works of mainland artist Li Fuyuan, celebrating the beauty of creation. Characterised by the heavy use of black paint contrasting bright colour composition and bold brushstrokes, Li Fuyuan painted with a sense of impending misfortune that has bestowed his life.
Born in Kunming, China in 1942, Li learned painting from Wu Guanzhong at the Beijing Art Academy in 1957. It was under the tutelage of Wu that Li was exposed to the nineteenth-century impressionists painting, while simultaneously being influenced by traditional Chinese folk art. Featuring his common motifs of animals, fowls, landscape scenes and others, this online-only auction is offered with an attractive buyer’s premium of only 15%.
