Body of Knowledge (at Home)

Hello… can you hear me??

How much closeness is possible between strangers separated by continents, cultures and generations? How does theatre work in absence of physical presence?

What happens when teenagers get to ask adults about topics like shame, sorrow, age, bodies, death and the future of our world?

Body of Knowledge (at Home) is an invitation to participate in an exchange between faraway bodies.

Theatremaker Samara Hersch works with a group of Singaporean and Australian teenagers to express and discuss their curiosities, fears, desires and hopes. With the phone line as the stage, each teen is connected to an adult audience member, who is invited to respond to their burning questions.

At the intersection between performance and social engagement, Body of Knowledge (at Home) explores the unsaid and unexplored through intergenerational dialogue and knowledge exchange. It facilitates honest conversations that have the power to shake convictions, shift perceptions and to reposition one’s own biography.

***
Body of Knowledge was originally realized in the framework of Be SpectACTive! – CapoTrave/Kilowatt (IT), Artemrede (PT), Bakelit Multi Art Center (HU), Brut (AT), BUDA Kortrijk (BE), Cafè de las Artes Teatro (ES), Domino (HR), Divadelná Nitra(SK), Dublin theatre festival (IE), Göteborgs stadss kulturförvaltning/ Stora teatern (SE), Institution Student Cultural Centre (RS), Occitanie en scène languedoc-roussillon (FR), Plesni teater (SI), Tanec praha (CZ), Teatrul national Radu Stanca (RO), Performance Space, Liveworks Festival and SICK! Festival FUNDED BY Australia Council for the Arts

The at home version is CO-PRODUCED by International Summer Festival Kampnagel, Züricher Theaterspektakel.

02 – 04.04.2021 (Fri – Sun)

Fri: 3pm, 6pm [GMT+8]
Sat:3pm, 6pm [GMT+8]
Sun: 3pm [GMT+8] (includes post-presentation dialogue; no intermission)

《Body of Knowledge (at Home)》
