From 26 August to 1 September 2016, 11am – 8pm daily, at Visual Arts Centre – It is time again for another dynamic exhibition of contemporary Ganesha Art by Gnani Arts!

‘The Victory Icon: Contemporary Ganesha Art’ is an edition of Gnani Arts’ celebrated series of contemporary Ganesha Art exhibitions since 2003. Curated by Singapore-born curator Vidhya Gnana Gouresan, this will be the 7th exhibition in the series. On a creative note and from a curatorial perspective, we have urged the artists of the exhibition to channel elucidating narratives, on personal, social and mythological levels, within and through their artworks for the exhibition, using the binary nature of the Hindu god Ganesha as a global icon who is both secular and religious in nature.

The team of accomplished as well as emerging artists for the exhibition hail from Singapore, Indonesia and various states of India. The artists are (in alphabetical order) Chandrika Chandran, Dhilna Amar, Gargi Sen, Gloria Keh, J. Kalidass, Kalpana Yuvarraaj, Kanak Kiran, Lakshmy Iyer, Mona Singhania, Nancy Ng, Sandhya Wadhwani, Rooma Panchmatia, Sarbani Bhattacharya, Sheena Bharathan, Shyama Nadimpalli, Shilpa Iyer, Sonali Mohanty and Suchita Babar.
