Aaron Gan marks the upcoming Year of the Rooster with the exhibition A Chicky New Year, which is all about our favourite domestic fowl. The only bird in the Chinese Zodiac, Aaron celebrates not only adult roosters and hens in painting, but the very embodiment of new life and new beginnings, the chick.
Parallel to his depictions of chickens in traditional Chinese style, but using his trademark watercolours, Aaron also exhibits a series of illustrations for his first children’s book, Have You Seen My Brush? This special series about a chick looking for its paintbrush was created together with the help of Tru-Marine, to raise awareness for Arc Children’s Centre, which is dedicated to nurturing and enriching the lives of children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, in a joyful and healthy environment. A portion of proceeds from sales will be donated to Arc Children’s Centre.
