Tang Contemporary Art announces the grand opening of its newest gallery in Singapore on June 28, 2024. The gallery’s grand opening will feature an exceptional selection of works from prominent Asian artists, including Ai Weiwei (b.1957, China), renowned for making strong aesthetic statements that resonate with timely phenomena across today’s geopolitical world.
Kitti Narod (b.1976, Thailand) creates paintings that convey a sense of joy and optimism through gentle and warm portrayals of daily life and human relationships. In his paintings, everyone and everything exist together in a utopia. The artist’s work tries to remind us to appreciate the simple pleasures and raise attention to everyday mundane matters.
Leng Guangmin (b. 1986, China) is known for his method of Slicing to open up physical spaces in his work. With relatively consistent painting skills, the artist keeps dissecting materials and images guided by some clues but has no clear themes.
Gongkan (b. 1989, Thailand) who resides in Bangkok is best known for his street art and illustrations made during his time in New York. The element of time is a predominant concept in Gongkan’s paintings: surrealistic canvas, populated by human figures, realised with graphic flat strokes. Through presenting different visions of the present times or rewriting the past, the artist creates alternate realities in the process.
The opening exhibition will also include works by Woo Kukwon (b.1976, Korea), Liu Yuran (b. 1996, China), Zhao Zhao (b.1982, China), and Tiffany Lafuente (b.1989, Philippines).
