Titled From Gelam to Glam, the installation is by local multi-disciplinary artist Rizman Putra, a respected figure in the experimental art scene.
Rizman’s residency takes place from 15 to 23 February from 10am to 6pm daily. Drop by to observe how Rizman works with a new medium of UV paint to create a black-light drawing installation inspired by the native Gelam tree, which Kampong Glam was named after.
The completed work will be presented as a gallery installation from 24 February to 7 June from 8am to 9pm (except Mondays and Public Holidays).
Visitors will be invited to step inside the containers to engage with the work from Fridays to Sundays between 10am to 6pm, and until 8pm on the last Saturdays of the month. During this time, they can also gain insight into the mind of the artist through his sketchbooks, featuring over 20 years of notes and doodles, which will be on display.
