Do you know Little India is a treasure trove of street murals, including one by the renowned Ernest Zacharevic? Follow the friendly and experienced street mural guide Simon to traverse the big roads and the small lanes in search of these murals with a plot.
Meeting point is the contemporary La Salle College of the Arts where Singapore’s young artists are being groomed. We then depart the modern world and take a short walk back in time to the historic and beautiful Abdul Gafoor Mosque, completed in 1907. Next, we head to the Great Madras Hotel, a new boutique hotel housed in a pre-war building with ample nostalgia in its revamped décor.
Then we wend around some back alleys to embark on our great mural adventure to check out several impressive street paintings, a veritable “mamak” mall of paintings that many people don’t know exisits deep inside Little India.
