A new premier multi-disciplinary arts centre for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to learn, train and collaborate opens on Saturday, 15th October at ART:DIS Bukit Merah. A leading charity dedicated to creating education and livelihood opportunities for PWDs, the new centre enables ART:DIS to serve beneficiaries in the West of Singapore, as well as to expand their range of art programmes to the community.
This is significant as empowering persons with disabilities to live independently is the focus of Singapore’s newly launched Enabling Masterplan 2030, as it sets out the vision for our nation as an inclusive society, covering areas such as education, employment, independent living and access to digital services.
Centrally located within Bukit Merah Community Hub, the new centre features exciting spaces such as a 32-seater Black Box theatre and a recording studio professionally-equipped to support students with disabilities in developing excellence at the highest level. These spaces will also be made available as resources for the wider community and partners from the disability sector.
