Modeled after support groups in America typically meant to assist people in coping with addiction, grieve or loss, Artists Anonymous is about bringing artists together in the spirit of creative self-expression, collaboration and community, as we cope with honing our craft as artists.
As an official launch of the collective, we’ll be having our first exhibition “Artists Anonymous: Creative Self-Help” in May 2016, featuring new works by MaryAnn Loo, Stephanie Hew, Ang Ee Sock, Shenly Yee and Marliana Lee.
This exhibition explores the themes of identity not only as creatives, but also as a person, and what it means to be part of a community. At the same time, the process of art-making can be likened to self-made therapy, and creative expression as a means to heal one’s soul and discover one’s voice.
