Someone once said, to know an artist’s technical skills, look at his portraits.
“Bali in Pastel” art exhibition offers you many opportunities to assess Low Hai Hong’s technical skills as an artist, with several portrait paintings. The exhibtion also features paintings of marketplaces, Wayang Kulit (traditional puppets of Indonesia) and Balinese dancers.
These pastel paintings are very different from his oil paintings; when Low Hai Hong paints in pastel, his colours stand out dramatically, totally unlike the palette in his oil paintings. You will be amazed at the neon green, bright orange, dazzling blue, shiny white, and many other colours, that makes traditional and cultural Bali look contemporary and pop.
