This year, UltraSuperNew Gallery hosts its first ever Bizarre Bazaar, just in time for Halloween. An art-based marketplace, Bizarre Bazaar brings artists and makers who dabble in similar practices or subcultures together, forever. Each edition focuses on a different theme, and encourages the exploration of ideas outside the mundane.
For its first edition, Bizarre Bazaar presents HORROR, FILTH and GLAMOUR — inspired by Junji Ito’s horrifying manga series, and the reality TV series, Dragula. Like-minded local artists with a penchant for the dark side are specially curated to exhibit and co-exist within the walls of UltraSuperNew Gallery while cultivating blood bonds with other cult creators, collectors and consumers.
A sickening experience — visitors can adorn themselves with pretty (terrifying) trinkets for the bodice, wrist, neck, Crocs and more. Those who prefer to live by the skin of their teeth can walk away with custom tooth gems, affixed right there and then, while getting those claws transformed into horrifying nail art — filed, shaped and painted. The blood thirsty are welcome to nourish themselves with hair-raising photography, prints and Black Crow Taxidermy & Art’s newest collection: Fairies — A World Unseen. Finally, inner demons are laid to rest with live tarot readings and custom-made petrifying poetry.
Explore the breadth of possibilities in the world of horror — from filthy reincarnations to glamour in the face of death. Come in your truest, spookiest form, where your tortured souls are free to roam.
