In this post-pandemic exhibition, South Korean artist Yoyojin reflects on our freedom to travel, and what binds us to places. To cope with the hardship of being in a long-distance relationship during the pandemic, with his partner living in another country, the artist suddenly took an interest in birds, unbound by human borders, travelling and migrating freely.
Movement is a daily phenomenon that most of us never questioned, but being “stuck at home”, or unable to travel overseas, brought new perspectives and a new appreciation for travelling.
In BORDERLESS, Yoyojin’s first solo exhibition in Singapore, the artist activates his signature rounded and crowned creatures to open new roads to the sky, offering us a magical future, freed of all boundaries.
