CANVAS/S: Moving Images Exhibition with Amanda Tan

Amanda Tan & Pat Shiu, Connective Fibre, 2021, Stills from Multi-channel Video

CANVAS/S invites you on an eye-opening exploration of the artists’ world. Each installation in this series is proudly helmed by a local artist or collective, represented by their signature medium. Discover the techniques and inspiration behind each unique art piece at the exhibition, or take a deeper dive with the various programmes run by the artists themselves. We live in a visual world, a world dominated by technologies that have given us the most seemingly objective picture of the universe we have ever known; we are surrounded by images and representations. Yet, our inundation and even saturation by images has also paradoxically made it difficult for us to make sense of reality in a coherent fashion. At the same time, the media that the average audience consumes is limited by what is readily and popularly available. Fortunately, both traditional video art and post-modern filmmaking have constantly explored ways to break out of preconceived notions of what film is, and what it means to the audience.
