Chan-Davies Art Prize 2018 LASALLE College of the Arts’ Winners:
Gemma Kearney (MA Fine Arts)
Dipali Gupta (BA Fine Arts)
2018 LASALLE graduates Gemma Kearney (MA Fine Arts) and Dipali Gupta (BA Fine Arts) were announced as the winners of the Chan-Davies Art Prize on 17 May 2018, in conjunction with the opening of The LASALLE Show 2018 Exhibition.
The two prizes, which are awarded annually, are designed to give substantial financial support to graduating students in the LASALLE BA and MA classes in their first year after graduating – with the goal of an exhibition in the later half of the year. The judges considered and supported artists who had a clear vision and professionalism to bring forth their messages through their mediums. Artworks were judged based on originality, conceptual rigour and coherence between the initial ideas and finished works. The art prize hopes to encourage artists in their early career with financial support and exposure and, over time, to help cultivate the next generation of local artists.
