Globetrotting performance, art, music and new media collective Chicks on Speed take the stage in the June session of ArtScience Late with their special mix of irony and electronic beats. Merging video, choreography and fashion, the performance will see the duo playing live against the backdrop of their surrealistic and poetic short films. Be prepared for an evening that will be visually stunning as well as sonically explosive. This one-night performance will also see Malvina Tan, Dinu Bodiciu, Lennat Mak and Zul Mahmod collaborating with Chicks on Speed.
Chicks on Speed was founded in 1997 as a multidisciplinary art group that combines performance art, electronic dance music and fashion. Since then, the band has reached cult status as catalysts of the musical genre ‘electroclash’. This involves music that fuses 1980s electro, new wave and synthpop with 1990s techno, retro-style electropop and electronic dance music. Chicks on Speed last performed at Zouk during their visit to Singapore in 2006.
ArtScience Late brings experimental performances by outstanding local and international performers who work at the intersection of art, technology and science, to the public for free. This takes place once a month, on Thursdays, at ArtScience Museum.
