In her first solo showcase, local artist Chloe Po presents a series of works created from her obsession with reveries constructed upon remembrance and loss.
Her practice focuses on the tension created by her desire to give her reveries a form of permanence in spite of its elusive nature.
Taking shape of fantasised objects plundered from her personal collection of reveries – her delicately handcrafted sculptures are a bid to crystalise memories passed and embody her lingering nostalgia and sentimentality.
Ranging from palm sized objects such as a pocket watch to larger items such as a cuckoo clock, these sculptures were carefully manipulated from tissue paper and glue in a lengthy and intricate process. The former softly envelopes light and diffuses shadows, while the latter bonds, mends and dries slowly. In bridging fragments of physical time with that of fantasised time, her practice captures the consciousness in a state of limbo.

They may take the form of narrative sculptures, installation, paintings, poetry and photography, but always they contain the tension of embodying the fleeting nature of reveries and suggest time lost and frozen.
Chloe graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2019. Most recently, she received The Winston Oh Travelogue Research Award 2018. She has also participated in numerous exhibitions in Singapore.
