Christophe Jacrot is fascinated by the confrontation between two massive forces: weather and towns. After his first series “Paris Under the Rain”, he shot mainly Hong Kong, New York, London, Lisboa, India, Tokyo and Taipei. Jacrot transforms the gloomy wet weather into a dazzling world where light bounces off rain-soaked streets and raindrops glisten on the windowpanes. His approach is deliberately romantic and poetic.
Jacrot says, “I see these elements as a fabulous ground for photography: an under-used visual universe with a strong evocative power, thanks to the richness of subtle lights. This universe escapes most of us, since we are too occupied getting undercover! I like the way rain, snow and “bad weather” awaken a feeling of romantic fiction within me (climatic excesses are another topic)”.
