Pottery is emblematic to human creation – all human cultures throughout history have created and experimented with pottery in many shapes and sizes, with various purposes and meanings. While the meaning of pottery can be extricated in some discourses, the lived experience of the making of pottery is one that demands commitment to a laborious task, a strong understanding of clay and glazes, as well as a vivid imagination of possibilities. Pottery by construct is defined by a hollow within that which is a receptacle. But from without, pottery could only have meaning if we have a feeling for it.
