Créancey Mornings is a new series of works by the very hip and the very happening Aaron Kinnane, one of Australia’s brightest contemporary artist.
19 works, executed during a recent overseas residency in the beautiful Burgundy region of France, in a magical castle in the idyllic town of Créancey are a testament to Aaron’s growing talent, which has seen him have sell-out shows consistently over the last few years.
The residency in late 2017 to me signals a fresh turning point in Aaron’s progression as an artist. The works continue to build on the maturity of the quietly spoken and very respectful man that he is.
Parisienne paints rural canvases, cheap local wine, new friendships all seem to have influenced these works, now seemingly more bold, extra release and passion in the gestural strokes. Increased awareness and self-confidence perhaps, or maybe I am just reading more into them than I should? Who knows…?
