Curatorial Talk: Vanessa Bartlett

Vanessa Bartlett will discuss the curatorial methods that informed her recent exhibition Group Therapy: Mental Distress in a Digital Age, which she co-curated with Mike Stubbs for FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, UK). This exhibition explored the complex relationship between technology, society, and personal wellbeing, tracking contradictory narratives about digital devices. Vanessa will outline the artworks, archival and research material that featured in the show, before sharing insights into its ongoing development in preparation for its restaging in Sydney in 2017.

Vanessa Bartlett is a researcher, writer and curator currently based between the UK and Australia. She is a PhD candidate at UNSW, where her curatorial research examines the meeting point between art, digital technology and public perceptions of mental health. She has given talks at international venues such as The V&A and Science Museums in London and is currently developing curatorial projects in collaboration with several venues across London and Sydney.
