Elena Lo Giudice, an Italian visual artist currently living in Singapore, will be exhibiting a selection of her artworks from 29 May until 9 June 2023 at the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, as part of the Italian Festival program.
Over the years, the artist has developed a body of work that is characterized by a profound sense of yearning and nostalgia for fleeting moments and lost things. By collecting and combining various images through photography and collage techniques, the artist creates a new reality that evokes a sense of familiarity yet appears displaced.
The use of colour and washi (Japanese handmade paper) is integral to the artist’s work. This material holds a special place in the artist’s creative process, as it was her preferred medium during her childhood and serves as a reminder of her imaginative wanderings as a young girl living in Singapore during the 1980s.
