DIPTYCH conceives the dynamic nature between Faris Heizer and Aisha Rosli through collaborative and separate art making processes. The authentic and augmented realities that are simultaneously parallel and in conflict spur altered nuance and identity.
Faris’ paintings are collectively of caricatures living in an abject reality where a rather dystopian palette of colours and strokes respond to the anxiety faced by its protagonists. His sporadic method of painting allows paint to exist in a pictorial space where experimentation of forms correspond to a constant narrative flux, driven by the act of painting.
Aisha’s paintings weigh on an amplified alter-ego of emotionally charged human experience, desire, alienation, sensuality and the scenic. A pictured image intuitively melds as the confined shape transfigures into uncanny abstraction. The figures, which are of female archetypes, are derived from journal sketches and arbitrary shapes.
The duo’s collaborative approach signifies the release and off-set of delicate dynamic responses into an indiscernible blend. The perceptibly similar organic visual repertoire are in reflection to the shared narrative among the pair’s amity and commonalities, rooted in the varying responsive natures in which experience is charged.
