It all began with a beautiful, enigmatic red box, a gift from a generous friend. Inside, a treasure trove awaited: multicoloured White Rabbit candies, each piece a bite-sized memory from childhood — a treat that could transport anyone back to simpler, more innocent times. Inspired by the nostalgia of these iconic sweets, Sue embarked on an artistic adventure.
Down the Rabbit Hole … is a joyous celebration of rabbits, inspired by their playful nature, gentle wisdom, and their ability to lead us down unexpected paths. It’s a testament to the power of inspiration and the magic of storytelling. In this Year of the Rabbit, Sue drew inspiration from the literary works — Alice in Wonderland, Watership Down and The Velveteen Rabbit. It’s a journey back to the essence of childhood, where wonder knows no boundaries, and the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary.
This exhibition urges us to pause for a moment, to see the beauty of the mundane objects in our everyday lives. The most enchanting worlds are found when we dare to look beyond the ordinary and follow the White Rabbit down the hole.
