Dress Up is Singaporean artist Safaruddin Bin Abdul Hamid (Dyn) latest solo exhibition with Chan + Hori Contemporary. Dyn is known for his depictions of familiar local architecture in super flat and candy-coloured composition void of human presence. In Dress Up, he explores further to create new looks for world famous architectures which include the Statue of Liberty, Sydney Opera House and Itsukushima Shrine.
Dyn has always been interested in transforming the physical aspect of iconic architectures. With frequent refurbishment of old and new buildings seen in Singapore to keep up with the ever-evolving physical landscape, the artist ponders if having a new coat of paint is critical and relevant.
