A group show by eight NAFA Fine Arts Certificate Programme alumni to celebrate the voyage of self-discovery through the engagement with abstraction. All art consists of elements of abstraction – line, colour, tone and texture, but abstraction takes it a step further, where the portrayal of the visible is superfluous. It does not try to paint the piano, or the harp, or the flute, but tries to paint music itself. It does not try to paint the sun, or the moon, but light itself.
Under the guidance and fellowship of teacher-mentor Mr Raymond Yap, each artwork of this Ensemble reflects a part of the artist’s life, through their own eyes, heart and soul.
Featuring diverse styles, expressions and mediums, ENSEMBLE: Coming out into Abstraction is the fruit of the artists’ love and labour in painting abstract art.
