Explorations: Chinese ink at NAFA

Ho Seok Kee, Abundance (detail of artwork) 2018, Chinese ink on rice paper, 112 x 48 cm

This medium specific exhibition showcases Chinese ink paintings by NAFA Fine Art students and recent alumni, examining the relationship between contemporary and traditional ideals within a Southeast Asian context. As a result of embracing a multidisciplinary approach in art making within the academy, various concepts in Chinese ink traditions are applied in contemporary art. These new explorations carve new avenues in thought and practice, allowing an ever fresh perspective upon established ink practices. The works will be displayed alongside traditional hui chun calligraphy by distinguished alumni and local calligraphers, leading up to Chinese New Year festivities to usher in the new year of the Pig.

Venue: Lim Hak Tai Gallery, NAFA Campus 1, 80 Bencoolen Street, Singapore 189655

When: 2 - 24 Feb 2019, 11am - 7pm (Closed every Monday and Public Holiday.)
