Tokyo Gallery is proud to present “FLOATING WORLD” an exhibition of paintings by contemporary Japanese artist Tomoko Tsuruta. A transnational painter, Tsuruta’s colorful visions and biomorphic forms reflect her fascination with universal themes like change and natural cycles such as birth and existence.
Schooled in the tradition of Chinese ink painting, the artist embraces the volatile fusion of ink and paper, creating complex imageries reflecting an exquistite balance of chance and control. By staying mindful and aware during her painting process, Tsuruta continues to push her work towards unexpectedly beautiful directions.
Discussing the motivation behind her collection, the painter states, “We have to accept that sometimes there are no clear answers. Similarly, my paintings have no fixed outcome. Through my process, I learn to let go.”
Tsuruta has received a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) from Lasalle College of the Arts-Goldsmiths University of London, Singapore.
