To celebrate this Chinese New Year, INDIGO BLUE ART has commissioned a special exhibition featuring art by Sunanda Khajuria and Dhaneshwar Shah. Both artists delve into earnestly understanding the symbology and presence of the goat in different religions and its representational history in art, which includes works by renowned names in the world of art such as Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, Henry Moore and Damien Hirst. The culmination of the artists study witnesses a beautiful weave of symbolic narratives with a palette rich in vivid colours and breathtaking lines, that pay homage to the whimsical, peaceful and cheerful world of the goat.
Interestingly, both artists were also born in the year of the Goat in 1979, and also supplemented their own experiences within their body of work. As artist Dhaneshwar Shah himself states, “I feel the sheep or ram, represents my childhood which was very careless, free and playful … and each and every movement in these works shared the fun and play for me”.
