Future Imperfect: Young Printmakers League is a group exhibition showcasing works by 8 talented artists.
The Young Printmakers League is a Mentorship Programme supported by Noise Singapore. They had its open call in December 2015. The response was over-whelming and they received more than a hundred applicants vying for the allocated spots in the programme.
With advance technologies, computer softwares and digital printers can do a better job at printing better and perfect pictures. However, the mentorship programme was not about learning how to print pretty pictures for these 8 apprentices. The selected apprentices went through a series of workshops on various techniques of printmaking. In the process, they have to conceptualise what they would like to work on after these workshops.
This exhibition showcases works by the first batch of Young Printmakers League. Curated and mentored by Joseph Chiang of Monster Gallery, and in collaboration with Mulan Gallery, Future Imperfect features works by Ang Ying Xian, Fyon Cheong, Mary Bernadette Lee, Lim Jia Ning Michelle, Ying Tong Tan, Odelia Tang, Andre Wee and Winnie Yip.
