Gallery Children’s Biennale 2023 – Let’s Make a Better Place

National Gallery Singapore is excited to announce its 4th edition of the Gallery Children’s Biennale, themed ‘Let’s Make a Better Place’. Happening from 27 May 2023 to 31 March 2024, this year’s edition will showcase 11 art installations by international artists that spotlight four core values: Care, Collaborate, Imagine and Respect.

Drawing from reflections and discoveries of the world around us, each installation is tied to one of the four core values and leverages on artistic concepts to bring to the fore the relevant issues of today in an easy-to-understand manner for children.

The Gallery is also proud to feature artists from Thailand and Malaysia for the first time at the Biennale, highlighting its ongoing commitment to showcasing exceptional talents from Southeast Asia. The artists include Kumi Yamashita (Japan/USA), Tawatchai Puntusawasdi (Thailand), Fadilah Karim (Malaysia), artworks from the International Museum of Children’s Art (Norway), Arahmaiani (Indonesia), Singaporean artists Chiang Yu Xiang, Izziyana Suhaimi, Ly Yeow, Wang Ruobing, and a collaboration between LittleCr3atures®, Lynette Quek and Jevon Chandra.

Visitors can look forward to an immersive experience that invites open communication, creativity, and reflection about the future, and aims to inspire children to take an active role in shaping a better world for themselves and others. In addition to the art installations, there will also be new interactive activities, such as My Biennale Buddy, a detailed guidebook for children to better understand the festival, an on-site to online game, as well as enriching on-site programmes and performances for all ages.
