Games and Politics

The Goethe-Institut Singapore and Kult Gallery present Games and Politics, an interactive exhibition that features 18 playable games, short films, and 2D artworks that deal with socially-relevant and mature topics like war, gender, migration, democracy and surveillance.

The exhibition invites the audience to play digital games and simultaneously experience the power of games as a communication tool. The exhibition questions the scope and limits of games as a genre so as to construct a counter-positon — whether in the demonstration of social conditions, in the investigation of the medium itself, its functioning, stereotypes, dependencies and conditions, or in enacting politics with games through practices of subversive appropriation.

This exhibition is presented by the Goethe-Institut Singapore and ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Germany, with support and contribution from Kult Gallery. Admission is free. Mature themes are addressed in the games.
