PALFCRAFT is a Good Design Research project that meaningfully combines new and old, by prototyping artisan-woven batik fabrics made from innovative pineapple leaf fibre yarns (PALF).
Designed by NOST in collaboration with Nextevo, these first-to-market heritage textiles feature loom-woven and batik fabrics hand-crafted by artisans based in Indonesia. The batik motifs are originals designed by NOST, inspired by architectural landmarks in Singapore.
Made from pineapple leaves, the capsule breathes new life into agricultural waste and presents an exciting sustainable alternative to the fashion and textile industry, while preserving heritage craft.
This exhibition celebrates sustainability and heritage, and features PALFCRAFT fabrics in a capsule collection of resort apparel and furnishings.
