Got to Move (GTM) 2018

In the month of October, Singapore’s nationwide dance movement, Got to Move is back for its fourth edition to celebrate the diversity of dance in Singapore. With a diverse range of dance programmes all across Singapore, including new collaborations and pairings between dance groups and genres, there is something for everyone at this edition of Got to Move.

An initiative by the National Arts Council to grow appreciation for dance in Singapore, Got to Move 2018 explores creative ways of bringing Singaporeans from all walks of life together to discover dance and movement.

Got to Move 2018’s anchor festival opens with Got to Move ISLANDWIDE, a two-week festival which runs daily from 12 to 28 October, featuring a wide range of ground-up dance programmes happening around the island. Some of the new highlights this year include Singapore’s first social dance-cum-street dance party, a special co-choreographed piece between a hearing and a hearing-impaired choreographer, and other activities that allow participants to learn more about dance in interesting and fun ways.

This festival will culminate in Got to Move SPOTLIGHT, a dance carnival held at the Civic District in conjunction with Car-Free Sunday SG on 28 October from 8.30am to 12pm. Back by popular demand is the Got to Move Dance-Walk which is a playful mashup between a danceathon and walkathon that is suitable for everyone. Participants can also get their groove on and work up a sweat with fun-filled dance activities or enjoy themselves at the dance photography exhibition.
