This exhibition explores the original works of two Japanese artists inspired by Japan’s traditional art and culture seen through their eyes. Visitors will enjoy charming floral and landscape imageries portraying a sense of quietude and grace evident in the Japanese way of life specifically before World War II. Ryoko and Moto are respectively the mother and grandmother of Kato Art Duo Gallery Founder Hiroshi Kato. This will be the first time that their artworks will be featured in Singapore.
Hiroshi Kato, Gallery Founder of Kato Art Duo, said,
“It is of great honour to be able to curate and present the works of my mother and grandmother, who have practiced art since childhood. We hope that this three-month long exhibition will offer a glimpse into the world of Japanese art and culture. Curating this exhibition has recalled to mind many nostalgic memories of my grandmother and mother, who have both been a great influence to my passion for the arts.”
