“Homecoming: 浪子回头,十年不晚, The Vagrant’s Return is Never Too Late” features ceramic works by Kim Whye Kee. The showcase will run throughout the festive Chinese New Year weekend and will be open daily from 8-11 February 2024. Browse a display of over 300 handmade ceramic pieces, a testament to Kee’s artistic odyssey and transformation from a challenging past. The exhibition includes a tea experience that was first presented at the Substation’s Re-connect/Centre/Converge festival in 2022.
Kim will be presenting works crafted from a rare Singapore Clay preserved from the 1970s, to symbolise the preciousness of diminishing resources resulting from urbanisation. Complementing his famous teacups and gaiwans, he will be premiering an array of tea accessories, including water kettles, caddies, and vases, all of which will be available for sale during the exhibition.
