“Horizon” by Liu Liling is a series of sublime inkjet prints capturing the sky at different times of the day.

With some inkjet prints showcasing monochromatic hues while others feature gradients and smudges, “Horizon” challenges the flatness of two-dimensional art and highlights the porosity of printed surfaces amidst their static appearance. Through the use of a large-format printer and a unique technique of halting and repeating the printing process to build solid planes of colour, the series aims to extend the time and effort taken to produce a printed surface in today’s age of digital imaging.
