IKEA Singapore’s Young Designer Award (YDA) returns for its third year, to feature the best ideas for furniture and home furnishing solutions by tertiary students.
The theme this year is “It Starts with the Food”. The home is a welcoming place of activities and everyday routines, many of which revolve around food: cooking for loved ones, where you have breakfast in the morning, entertaining over dinner with friends or even growing your own vegetable garden.
The IKEA Life At Home 2015 survey conducted here also uncovered existing food habits and activities of Singaporeans. For example, one in four surveyed feel bad about the amount of food thrown away each week, and 41% never eat in the kitchen or dining room on weekdays. In light of these current trends, the competition aims to look for furnishing solutions and products that make these four activities at home more creative, easier, inspiring and enjoyable for people:
Grow and Produce | Prepare & Cook | Eat, Drink & Serve | Store & Handle
The competition is now open to all Singaporean and PR students who are enrolled full-time in a tertiary institution in Singapore.
The submission deadline for the IKEA Young Designer Award 2016 has been extended to May 5, 2016
