French artist Mylène Viggers and Singaporean artist Yuen Kum Cheong collaborate on this endeavour, bringing together their respective cultural heritage, art practice and painting media to express their shared love for the luxuriant greenery around us in Singapore.
The twenty-four paintings represent snippets of nature in Singapore through their eyes. Featuring various fascinating locations of greenery in the city state, the two artists put forward their impressions, shaped by their background, memory and observation.
Impressions of Nature in Singapore is a juxtaposition of Mylène’s spontaneous outdoor paintings and Kum Cheong’s deliberate studio paintings. The original artworks are on display at the Green Pavilion, Botany Centre (Tanglin Gate) where a combined centrepiece underscores the artists’ collaboration with contrasting visions and styles. The digital prints of the artworks can be viewed at People’s Gallery exhibition spaces.
